Comedy fest a first for Australia
A little bit of Italy came to town yesterday, with the official launch of The Australasian Commedia dell’Arte Festival . The festival, which will run from May 28 to 30 in Gympie, is the brainchild of performer/director and former NIDA teacher Tony Kishawi.  It will be a celebration of a living theatre tradition which dates back to 16th century Italy. About 50 people enjoyed Italian coffee and cake at the Civic Centre and an Introduction 101 to Commedia dell’Arte by event administrator Janet Zijm.

During my recent travels to Europe in August – October 2008 I filmed and produced some footage of Vasco Petruzzi’s bed and breakfast in Via Veneto in the heart of Rome. As Part of Italian Week 2008, an initiative of the Italian Consulate in Brisbane and is the Official Italian Festival in Brisbane.  I produced the feature concert which included Peter Cupples who performed a number of his original works and covered some of the standards. Have a look at the four songs performed by Peter at the concert which was opened by the Italian Consul to Queensland and the Northern Territory. website is now updated. Having recently returned from a trip to Europe, I had occassion to visit on of my favorite places and now that I am back in Australia I took the opportunity to make some redesigns to the site. The Viognier was hand harvested off Maryville Estate in Chittering and the Shiraz was machine harvested off the Barton Vineyard in Baskerville, Swan Valley. Fermentation: The whole bunches of Viognier were placed in the bottom of the fermenter and the Shiraz was crushed in on top. They were co-fermented for 10 days before the wine was pressed in to barriques (2x 1 year old French oak and 1x new American oak) to finish the primary and malolactic fermentation followed by 14 months of barrel maturation.

Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia
On the 24th of October 2007, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia as he Launches Hear and Say WorldWide at Admiralty House at Kirribilli. Honoured to be a guest of the Governor-General, It was my pleasure to film and produce the footage of the launch, which coincided with the launch of Peter Cupples new Album ‘about time’, Peter graciously allowed me to use some of his music on the production of the films.

The event is a joint venture between, The Italian Government, Multicultural Affairs Queensland, and Alessandro Sorbello Productions.
